I'm using them more as trivets. Not only does it help protect my counter tops from getting scratched, but also look nice. I've used them to open jars and they work quite nicely. They're pretty thick too. You get 3 different designs in the set. Great to place your hot plates of food on. I like them to simply add a little character to my counters, but that's just me. Great addition to my kitchen family.
